Flowers, candy, and jewelry are many people’s go-to gifts for Valentine’s Day, and while those gifts might be perfect for some, they’re probably not ideal for the person who spends most of their time in the gym. If your significant other is a fitness lover, or even someone who’s just starting out on their journey towards a healthier lifestyle, consider choosing one of the following more practical gifts as opposed to the heart-shaped box of chocolate. And don’t forget- Valentine’s Day isn’t just for the opposite sex; besties, girlfriends, grandparents, and more all need to feel the love as well! Think outside the box this year and share in someone’s passion for fitness instead of in a few hundred empty calories. This list of fitness related gifts is extra sweet and calorie-free.

1. Nodpod Weighted Sleep Mask

Does your significant other love the 5am CrossFit class but can’t sleep because you’re a night owl and won’t turn the tv off? This weighted sleep mask is the perfect solution. It’s like a weighted blanket for your eyes. This strap free mask provides gentle pressure on the eyes and promotes your best sleep ever, so your partner will wake up refreshed and ready to crush the morning WOD.

2. Myfitnesspal Premium

Gift an upgrade to myfitnesspal to help your sweetheart reach his or her fitness goals. Premium options include setting a daily calorie goal, calorie goals by meal, customizable protein, fat, and carb goals, food analysis, and many other personalized content options. This is perfect for anyone who’s tracking their macros or otherwise trying to get a head start on their nutrition planning. And don’t forget, CF3P offers customized nutrition plans for anyone who needs some extra help in this department! A gift card for a nutrition plan is also an excellent idea for Valentine’s Day.

3. SPI Running Belt

Hit the ground running and score some major points with your valentine who loves to run by purchasing this SPI (small personal item) running belt. These are the perfect solution to carrying your personal objects on everyday runs or during a race. The performance series belt features four elastic loops to hold energy gels, pepper spray, or whatever else you may need. There’s plenty of room in the zippered pouch to store larger phones, cash, and an ID as well. Score some extra bonus points by purchasing one for yourself as well and join in on your partner’s training- who said a date has to involve dinner and a movie? Check out a new trail and put a unique spin on date night.

4. On-the-go Sweat Kit

Lululemon knew what they were doing when they created this on-the-go kit. This is the perfect gift for the busy person in your life who has to get from the gym to the office before 8am. This easy-to-throw-in-your-bag kit includes dry shampoo, cool down lotion, and balm. The pouch is transparent and water resistant and also carry-on approved, so it’s compact enough to be a travel essential.

5. A Kettlebell

A kettlebell is a very efficient and versatile piece of equipment that provides a total body workout with a variety of moves. This adjustable one allows you to keep your gym space organized and choose your weight. Weight plates slide in to the kettlebell shell and the sturdy base allows for pushups. This makes a great gift for men and women and is an awesome way to get a good workout in on the days you can’t make it to the box.

6. A Massage Gift Certificate

If you want to score major points this Valentine’s Day, a massage gift certificate is the way to go. What gym goer doesn’t have the occasional (or often) aches and pains? A deep tissue massage feels amazing after a week of grueling workouts, and many massage parlors offer other perks such as hot stones or aromatherapy. If you are looking to pamper and spoil someone this year, this is the way to do it.

7. Hydration Vest

Help keep your valentine hydrated on long walks, runs or bike rides with this REI hydration vest. Features include stretch mesh pockets to store food or energy gels and a zippered reservoir sleeve. The reviews say it’s lightweight and stays put so you don’t have to worry about it weighing you down or slipping around while you sweat. Couple this gift with a fun outdoor excursion to delight your loved one.

8. Fitbit Versa 2

The new Versa2 model has some impressive features. A built in Amazon Alexa, 24/7 sleep tracking, swim tracking, and a cardio fitness score are among the characteristics that make this model one to buy. It’s super sleek and the premium design is available in a variety of colors for both men and women.

9. A CF3P Gift Certificate

Of course we can’t make a list of optimal valentine’s day gifts without including a gift certificate to CF3P; whether you gift it to your significant other or a friend, it’s a great way to introduce the gift of fitness into someone’s life. Make a plan to attend some classes together and bond while you’re both working to improve your physical and mental health. And don’t forget, CF3P gift cards can be used on anything from CrossFit classes to personal training, nutrition counseling, InBody Scans, and more! It really is the gift that keeps on giving.

While there’s certainly no harm in gifting chocolate, candies, or flowers on Valentine’s Day, these things can get kind of tired and may not be well-received by someone who is working hard to make healthy lifestyle choices. Not to mention, the aforementioned gifts will last much longer than a few hundred calories and rose petals that wilt in a week. Valentine’s Day is a great opportunity to spend some quality time with your significant other; why not let it be in the gym or out in nature while you work together at meeting your health goals?
